Luis Felipe Fernández-Salvador y Campodónico
Founding President · Sixth Marquis of Lises
Luis Felipe Fernández-Salvador y Campodónico, Sixth Marquis of Lises, is the first Founding President of The Embassy of Nature. Explorer, filmmaker, and environmental activist, he directs the founding vision of the institution across every programme it undertakes.
His life of exploration began at fourteen, in the tradition of a family of adventurers. His expeditions, devoted to the preservation of indigenous cultures and hidden civilisations, span more than twenty-seven years and have shaped the conviction at the heart of the institution: that the natural world is a subject of diplomacy, not an object of consumption.
He led the sustainable restoration of the Hôtel Hérouet in Paris, seat of Casa Ecuador, and is the founder of Paracas Independent Films, where he developed “Fantastic Realism,” a genre uniting fiction and documentary. His films, among them A Son of Man and Waorani: Guardians of the Amazon, address pressing social and environmental questions.
Under his presidency, The Embassy of Nature was presented at the United Nations in 2023, was introduced to the world during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, staged Casa Ecuador at the 2025 Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix — the first national pavilion of its kind in that arena — and announced the establishment of its permanent headquarters in Geneva.
